Professor Asbjørn Rødseth (borne 1951) has been associated with the University of Oslo more or less continuously since he became a student there in 1970, since 1989 as a professor of economics. His main research area is macroeconomics, with focus on international aspects and on labor markets, and he has been an active participant in the debate about Norwegian fiscal and monetary policy. Earlier he did research also on consumer behavior, especially in relation to energy and housing markets. Rødseth was the dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences in the period 2002-2008 and he has also been chair of the Department of Economics. He has had a number of public assignments and currently he is a member of the board of Norges Bank (the Norwegian Central Bank). Rødseth has always taken a keen interest in teaching and has published two text-books.
