Demissie Bediye Aredo's Biography
Dr. Demissie B. Aredo was born on
January 20, 1962 in Chekaa village, Kuyou district, Selale provice,
Ethiopia. He attended elementary and junior secondary school (1st -
10th grades) until 1980 in Garba Guracha Secondary School (GGSS), and
11th grade in 1980/81 in Fitche Comprehensive Secondary School (FCSS).
In June 1981, he joined the Ethiopian Airforce and attended ground
school in electronics until September 1983. In 1983/84, he attended
12th grade in FCSS and graduated from high school and he joined the
Addis Ababa University in September 1984.
Aredo received B. Sc. and M. Sc.
degrees in Mathematics from Addis Ababa University (AAU), respectively,
in June 1988 and December 1991. In March 1998, he received Cand.
Scient. (Candidatus Scientiarum) degree in Computer Science from the
University of Bergen, Norway. In March 2005, he received Ph. D. degree
in Computer Science from the University of Oslo, Norway.
Aredo held several positions both in
academia and industry:
- Senior Technical Consultant: Industrial and Financial Systems (IFS), Asker, Norway, since April 2008;
- Associate
Professor of Computer Science : Faculty of Engineering, Oslo University College, Rena, Norway, from January
2006-April 2008.
- Associate
Professor of Computer Science : Faculty of Business Administration, Social Scinces and
Computer Science, Hedmark University College, Rena, Norway, from August
2005-June 2008.
- Research scientist: Department
of Electronic Markets and Security (GEM) and later at the department of
Applied Research Technology (DART), the Norwegian Computing Center, May
2001 - April 2005;
