Bastards:
(These are some incoherent notes for a talk I have given several times in the period of 2008-2011. They are based on my dissertation "Composition as Identity" (UMass, 2009, available online). A too early version of it was justifiably rejected by a good referee a couple of years ago. Since then the core of what I say here has been superseded by other works of mine (and others), so I don't know what will happen to this one. I still stand by the spirit of it all, and some of the points I make are still original, but the particular way I formulate things here is ultimately incoherent, I believe. I put it here for the sake of the possibility of comments from interested parties.)
