The 'Map theory'
If the TDB booklet page
number languages indicate capital cities that help to orient us geographically,
then this list seems logical as far as it goes so far:
page 3, Spanish:
- Madrid (not Santiago,
Chile because of the photo of the observatory site in that country,
but Spain because other art doesn't connect with the country where
they speak the language of the page number)
page 5, English:
- I'm guessing London, not
Washington, D.C.
page 7, Hindi:
page 8, Italian:
page 11, German:
- It could be Dutch and
not German, but there are two page number heads it's about German
reunion. Two heads as capitals works because the divided Germany had
two capitals, in both Bonn and Berlin. I don't give it much credit,
but two page number heads as capitals also works with my old ideas
about the art being symbolic of the American Civil War, because the
Union capital was Washington, D.C. and the Confederate capital was
Richmond, Virginia (I think it was, anyway -- little help here?)
page 13, Japanese:
page 15, Swahili:
- I need some help here,
too -- is this language strongly associated with a single nation?
If so, it'll be news to me.
page 17, Chinese:
- They could be Japanese
characters, too, but I'll guess Beijing, since Japan is already represented
page 19, French:
page 21, Hebrew:
page 22, Russian:
