I am professor at the Department of Informatics of the University of Oslo.

 

From 2001-2009 I was also adjunct professor at the Computer Science Institute of the University of Tromsĝ.

I studied Computer Science at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg in Germany from 1983-1989 (Diploma in CS in 1989). From 1990-1994, I worked in the Database Technology Research Group headed by Prof. Dr. K.R. Dittrich at the Computer Science Institute of the University of Zürich in Switzerland. I obtained a Phd in Computer Science from the University of Zürich in 1994.

From 1994-1999, I have built up together with Thomas Plagemann the Distributed Multimedia Systems Group at UniK. Since 2000, I proceed with this and related research activities at the Department of Informatics at the University of Oslo.

Research and teaching interests:

Distributed multimedia systems, database systems, operating systems.
