Hans-Petter Hersleth

Hans-Petter Hersleth

I am working as a Researcher at Department of Biosciences, Section for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Oslo, where I have been working in the Andersson group. I am now leading a NFR/UiO funded project "Structural basis for electron transfer in and between redox proteins - recognition, selectivity and flexibility." within the field of Structural Biology. I am combining protein crystallography, single-crystal spectroscopy (Raman and UV-vis) and other biochemical and biophysical methods to study redox- and cofactor proteins like haem proteins, flavoproteins, iron-sulfur proteins, di-nuclear proteins (e.g. myoglobin, cytochrome c, nitric oxide synthase, catalase-peroxidase, flavohaemoglobin, ribonucleotide reductase, ferredoxin/flavodoxin reductases, ferredoxins, flavodoxins, ... ) and their function, interaction and reaction mechanism. A special interest is the X-ray induced radiation damage of redox- and metalloprotein crystals.
I am also involved in teaching two courses at the department, and otherwise in organising the Norwegian Chemistry Olympiad.
