xboot version 0.32

Xboot is a X11 wrapper around shutdown(8). The idea is to allow non-priviliged users to halt or reboot the system. It uses the Xforms graphical widget set.

The program can be run from your xdm startup script (Xsetup_0), and will display a small stop button:


Pressing this button brings up another window, where the user may choose some options for shutdown:


The archive contains source and Linux (glibc2) executable. I have only tested it for Linux, but it should work on most any Unix. Xboot is released under the GPL, with the explicit permission to link to the xforms library. Obviously, I don't assume any responsibility for what this may do to your machine or data.
