I'm originally from the northern part of Norway, more specifically a small community called Hamarøy. In 1996 I moved to Oslo in order to study astronomy and I've lived here ever since.
I've studied astronomy, mathematics, information technology and physics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Oslo. In June 2002 I finished my Master's thesis in Astronomy at the Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics. Subsequent (PhD level) research includes gamma-ray bursts and their host galaxies.
I'm author of a popular science book called Himmelkalenderen ("The Sky Calendar") and an astronomical picture book called Himmelen sett fra Jorda ("The Heavens seen from Earth") available in Norwegian, Danish, Swedish and Icelandic. I'm also part of the Norwegian committee for the International Year of Astronomy 2009.
Feel free to snoop around! :)
