I'm originally from the northern part of Norway, more specifically a small community called Hamarøy. In 1996 I moved to Oslo in order to study astronomy and I've lived here ever since.
I'm author of a popular science book called Himmelkalenderen ("The Sky Calendar") and I'm running a blog with the same name.
I've studied astronomy, mathematics, information technology and physics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Oslo. In 2002 I finished my Master's thesis in Astronomy at the Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics. Subsequent (PhD level) research included gamma-ray bursts and their host galaxies.
In 2008–2009 I was part of the Norwegian committee for the International Year of Astronomy 2009.
