Sarpsborg - Hafslund - Rokkeveien - Rakkestad - Ise - Hafslund - Sarpsborg
If you're looking for nice route for a motorcycle trip in Østfold, this is one of my suggestions. Myself, I like to start from the roundabout at Hafslund (close to where I live).
From Sarpsborg city, ride out of the city in a south-east direction past Orkla Borregaard and "Sarpsfossen", a great waterfall (by Norwegian standards anyway). Continue straight ahead through the first roundabout (by Hafslund Hovedgaard, a large mansion with a park). Then you will arrive at the roundabout at Hafslund. Keep straight ahead through this one as well. Just after the roundabout, you'll see a Shell gas station on your right hand side. This is a rather large gas station with some groceries and a lot of snacks as well. There is also a snackbar/hamburger bar by the gas station. Keep right in the roundabout just past the gas station.
You're on RV127 (if my map isn't outdated). Keep on straight ahead for a couple of kilometers until you pass a grocery shop on your right hand side, called "Joker". Just after that shop, you make a left turn. (I think the sign pointing in that direction says "Rokke Krk", but they may have changed that). You are now on "Rokkeveien". For a little while, it has a 50 km/h speed limit, but only for a couple of kilometers. Look out for gravel in the road for the first couple of kilometers after the speed limit changes (to no limit, ie. 80 km/h). Now the road gets pretty fun and twisty through the forest. Stay on Rokkeveien past the church straight ahead, until you see a sign to "Mysen". Follow that sign by taking a left, taking RV22 towards Rakkestad/Mysen. Stay on RV22 all the way to "Rakkestad Sentrum" You'll know you're there when you approach an intersection with a rather large Statoil gas station on your left hand side.
Take a left turn in the intersection, following RV111 towards Ise and Sarpsborg. This road goes through a lot of beautiful countryside, and can be used both as an exhilirating series of bends, or a relaxing scenic route, depending on your ... er ... "inspiration". ;-) Following this road straight ahead, you'll end up at the roundabout near the Shell gas station. Keep on through the two next roundabouts, you know them from the start of the trip, and you're back in Sarpsborg. Happy trails!
