Recent years have seen an
unprecedented acceleration in the evolution and expansion of Internet-based
service provision and inter/intra-enterprise integration in all market sectors.
This brings about the prospect of ad-hoc integration of systems across
organisational boundaries. Spanning national and enterprise borders, the
participating entities pool resources, information and knowledge in order to
achieve common objectives. Such new collaborations may last for a single
transaction or evolve dynamically over many years. This expected market
development sets new requirements for interoperability and trust, necessitating
the on-demand creation and self-management of dynamically evolving systems.
DIGIT addresses the extremely demanding and timely research challenge of
providing a framework of improved methods, tools and languages with the overall
objective to facilitate cost-effective trust and contract management solutions
that enable interoperability and secure collaborations in such system of
systems. DIGIT focuses on combining the experience of three principal
researchers and four international guest scientists with strong international
academic and industrial reputation with the initiatives and creativity of 3
doctoral fellows in the challenging environment of three industrial partners.
DIGIT is funded by the Research Council of Norway and runs
from January 1, 2007 until December 31, 2010.
DIGIT is a joint initiative
