The short version

I am a young man from Syvde, Sunnmøre, Møre og Romsdal on the west coast of Norway. I lived in Syvde until I was 17 years old, when I left to study at Ulstein High School in Ulsteinvik. After High School I did the military service at the Garnison of Sør Varanger (97-98), where I was a part of the Norwegian Borderguard Jaeger elite force whose task is to guard the Norwegian-Russian border.

Next, I went to live in Aalesund for three years (98-01), and received a Computer Engineering degree from the University College of Aalesund. Approaching the end of my degree in Aalesund, I decided to study abroad and finally ended up at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington, a four hour drive east from Seattle. There I earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in May 2002, and a Master of Science in Computer Science in May 2004. I wanted to stay in the US to work, but instead I went back to Norway in August 2004.

Soon after I returned, I was offered a Research Fellow position at the University of Oslo, which I accepted and started October 1st, 2004. More information can be found under current work.
