My main computer consists of:
- Aopen HX-08 (Modded)
- 7 x 3,5" internal bays
- 5 x 5,25" external bays
- 1 x 3,5" external for floppy
- Power: 300 W from QuietPC
- Main board: Asus CUSL2-C (A dream! But too low RAM
limit!)
Full control in BIOS! 6 PCI SLOTS!
- Processor: Intel PIII 1 GHz (Not over clocked)
- Memory: 2 x 256 MB PC133.
- GFX: Creative Annihilator PRO. (GeForce!)
- IDE RAID controller: Promise FastTrack 66!
- Network: SMC EZ-CARD 10/100.
- Multimedia:
- Creative
SB Live 5,1!
5.1 channels straight to my amp!
- Miro / Pinnacle Studio DC10! (Great capture & output card!)
- RealMagic Hollywood +
Hardware Mpeg decoder card. Gives me a load of only 1 % playing DVD
and VCD. And any other Mpeg compatible video formats.
- HD's: All HD's are in SilentDrive enclosures from
QuietPC. (Removes 90% or the noise!)
- 27 GB System (UDMA, Western Digital)
- 2 x 80 GB In RAID-0. Double size double speed! :-) Use
this for video recording and editing. Windows didn't
like it before with FAT32. Now with NTFS it runs much better.
It scratches
down about 40 MB/sec and coughs up about 50 MB/sec! The nice thing is
that the Raid-card works as a SCSI host and therefore gives very little load
on the system :-)
- CD-ROM(/RW)'s:
- Kenwood True-X 72X !!! 7 Beam pickup and totally silent!!!
The genius thing about this drive is that it reads audio in 54 X!
Without any sync errors!
- Sony 24/10/40
24X writer :-) (UATA)
- Pioneer 12X DVD (UATA)
- External:
- Iomega USB ZIP 250.
- Apacher MultiMediaCard Reader/Writer (USB)
- Other weird shit:
- Round cables to improve airflow! (Those
yellow double-corded ones)
- DigitalDoc 2 Temp monitor in front bay.
(Goes in and out according to my other modding
projects needs...)
- 2x80mm silencer fans in rear and 1 in front. All from QuietPC.
- To better the cooling I use Arctic Silver from 3DFX-Cool
- A plexi-window is mounted in the side of the case
to give a good view of the motherboard-area.
- IrDa header is mounted in the lowest 5,25"
bay together with a switch to turn on and off a sound-sensitive red neon
inside the case.
- Double USB-header is mounted tilted down in the
front of the case. This gives front-access to two extra USB-ports.
- Computer has finally gotten a floppy. Not
beacuse I needed one, but I wanted to fill the hole.
As you can see it's pretty stuffed in there :-)
This case has a great airflow without pushing that much air and
making all the noise. A page about this will be coming up shortly...
Case-modding is so much fun!!!
