One of my favorite pastimes is programming PIC systems. These are complete systems on a single chip! The ones I use are produced by Microchip and uses the RISC architecture. these are very easy to program for because they have a very limited instruction-set. They are relatively fast too, with 4 mips, (million instructions per second), on the slower models. These chips can be used for just about anything. They are also being used in viewing-cards for satellite television and MOD-Chips for the Playstation and other game-consoles. At the moment I am working on a small project where we want to control a small vessel driven by solar cells and batteries. The goal is to cross the Atlantic. The problem is getting a propulsion-system for salt water. It has to use low power and be able to handle many months in salt water. In other words, I'm stuck :-) Any and all comment's and feedback are welcome at kreature@c2i.net.
