Lars Frers – research in Norway

material agency & human perceptions/practices
I am currently finishing the contribution that I made as a guest researcher in the project Routes, Roads, and Landscapes: Aesthetic Practices en route 1750-2015. The project is based at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design, and it is funded through the Norwegian Research council’s KULVER program. My contribution is called Impressive landscapes : Entanglements of nature and culture. My study focuses on architecturally furnished view points along the Norwegian Tourist Route, where I examine the relations between people’s mundane practices and the ever-changing materiality of the place (both regarding its architecture and the nature
on and around it). The map below shows where I took photographs for this study.

I am very grateful to the University of Oslo’s TIK Center, which continuously offers me the possibility of participating in its productive and friendly work environment.
You can find more information about my research (on climate change in everyday life on North Sea islands, on railway stations, doctor-patient interactions, the Potsdamer Platz in Berlin …) on my main home page.
