As of August 1st, 2010 I am an associate professor at the University of Oslo, more specifically in the Language Technology group at the Dept. of Informatics.
I have previously worked as a researcher at Potsdam University, Germany, where I was involved in two projects: the PTOLEMAIOS project and the SFB 632 project on information structure, both led by Prof. Jonas Kuhn.
On May 31st, 2008 I defended my thesis Argument Differentiation. Soft constraints and data-driven models at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, supervised by Elisabet Engdahl and Joakim Nivre.

Academic Interests
  • Linguistically motivated, data-driven modeling and machine learning
  • Data-driven, feature-rich dependency parsing
  • Lexical semantic and syntactic acquisition
  • The semantic property of animacy - its automatic acquisition and lexo-grammatical status
  • Word order phenomena in Scandinavian languages
  • Optimality-theoretic syntax; Bidirectional and Stochastic OT
