Senior Research Scientist
Simula Research Laboratory

Associate Professor
University of Oslo

I work as a Senior Research Scientist at Simula Research Laboratory and as Associate Professor (part time) at the Department of Informatics at the University of Oslo. I am head of the Automated and Distributed Computing (AC/DC) research group. The activitives of the AC/DC group are summarized in this article.

Research

My research concerns the automated solution of differential equations, in particular automated error control and implementation of finite element methods.

I am one of the main authors of FEniCS, a project for the development of free software for automated solution of differential equations. In particular, I am involved in the development of DOLFIN, a C++/Python library for the solution of differential equations, FFC, a compiler for finite element variational forms, and UFC, a framework for finite element code generation.

Teaching

I am currently teaching the course INF5650: Numerical methods for partial differential equations 2.
