Course 1: Nuclear forces and their impact in nuclear structure

Motivation and background.

The aim of this course is to present various theoretical approaches to the modeling of nuclear forces, with an emphasis on effective field theories. Lattice quantum chromodynamics simulations of nuclear forces will also be discussed. The philosophy of this course is to link a basic understanding of the various components of the nuclear force to specific observables in nuclear structure.

Syllabus of 30+30+60 hours (lectures+exercises+work on projects).
