Eating out in Oslo

This page lists a few places to eat in Oslo. (Many thanks to our resident pub and dining expert for providing this list.)

Note that the notion of a ‘cheap eat’ is relative to the generally exorbitant prices in Oslo.

This map shows the restaurants, cafés and so on that are listed below.
You can click and drag to scroll. Click the blue markers to see the names of the restaurants.

Eating at the Blindern campus

There are several places to eat, including, from nearest to CSMN to furthest away:

The cafe on the ground floor of Niels Trechow hus, just by the entrance to the building with the CSMN corridor in it (you get there by turning left when you go in, instead of right). Mainly cold food: unjustifiably expensive sandwiches, cakes and coffee.

Dana Bakeri. A small independent cafe just off the campus, under the tracks at the Forskningsparken metro station, three minutes from CSMN. The best and cheapest food anywhere near campus: big sandwiches for 30 Kr, børek (savoury Turkish pastries) for 20 Kr and a plate of chicken and rice for 50 Kr. And big, inexpensive raisin buns.

The main refectory. Upstairs in the Frederikke building on the main square of the campus, less than five minutes’ walk from CSMN. Standard cafeteria fare; Norwegian prices.

The cafe in the library building, Georg Sverdrups hus. Mainly cold food. Pleasant surroundings and decent coffee.
