There are some, but few, remaining fragments of the Erechtheion frieze. Although there are not enough remains to identify the motives, the theme of the frieze was very likely mythological. The technique used was unique, with carved relief figures in white marble fastened on a background of dark limestone, giving a special coloristic effect. And details of the temple, as capitals, bases, and ornamental profiles, were painted in bright colors.
