Research Interests:

Inorganic chemistry, materials science, electrochemistry, solid state ionics; in particular point defects and transport in oxides at high temperatures. Surface and interface kinetics. Reactivity of solids.

Utilization of functional properties of oxides for future energy technologies, e.g. fuel cells and gas separation membranes.

• Development of new materials and processes based on mixed ion and electron conductors for ceramic gas separation membranes and ionic conductors for high temperature fuel cells (Solid Oxide Fuel Cells).

Degradation of materials at high temperatures, metallic as well as ceramic.

• Complex corrosion mechanism for metals and single and multi-phase alloys under different reaction conditions

Experimental approaches include: Advanced transient and stead-state thermogravimetry and techniques for electrical characterization and electrochemistry, different types of wet chemical- and solid-state routes for synthesis of materials, sol-gel based coatings, Gas Phase Analysis, SEM, AFM, TEM, SIMS, XPS, EMPA.
