SUP-symposium June 5th and 6th 2003
As a part of the Strategic University Programme in Pure Matemathics
(SUPREMA),
funded by The Research Council of Norway, there will be a
"start-up" meeting Thursday June 5th and Friday June 6th at Soria Moria hotel and conference
center in Oslo.
To get to Soria Moria, Voksenkollveien 60, telephone 2322 2400, either

take
tram line 1
(Frognerseteren) from Majorstuen to Voksenkollen (e.g. the 08.46 tram from
Majorstuen gets to Voksenkollen at 09.12) and walk 10 minutes up along Voksenkollveien
(past Lysebuveien), or
-
go by car on Ring 3 to Smestadkrysset, follow signs to Holmenkollen,
drive past Holmenkollen and follow signs to Soria Moria.
Three series of three lectures each will be given by:
- Uffe Haagerup (Odense):
- "Applications of Random Matrices to Problems in Operator Algebra Theory".
- Klaus Hulek (Hannover):
- "On the modularity of Calabi-Yau varieties".
- Graeme Segal (Oxford):

"1. An approach to quantum field theory,
2. Two-dimensional field theories as geometric objects and
3. What is an elliptic object?".

Menus
Please note that breakfast and lunch buffets at Soria Moria are included for
all participants on both Thursday and Friday.
Thursday dinner
- Fish pie of the house, with herb dressing.
- Filet of lamb with thyme sauce, fresh vegetables of the day and
au gratin potatoes.
- Sorbet of the house with fresh berries.
- The white and red wines of the house.
Friday dinner
- Hot-scampi served with rice and garlic.
- Marinated catfish with white wine sauce, julienne vegetables
and potato pure.
- "Confect" (chocolate) cake with vanilla sauce.
- The white and red wines of the house.
Afternoon snack (both days)
- Vegetables with dips.
- Waffles.
