Research group and Staff:  5 post-docs, 10 PhD students, 3 Master students and 2 technicians. Previous supervisions: 20 PhD, 15 MSc.

Research activities and achievements: The major scientific contribution has been related to studies on absorption, transport, storage and function of retinoids (vitamin A), dietary antioxidants and their role in oxidative stress related diseases, as well as molecular imaging in transgenic reporter mice. About 200 papers in refereed journals including Science, Proc Natl Acad Sci USA (3x), Dev Biol (2x), FASEB J (2x), J Immunol (2x), J Biol Chem (10x), Physiol Rev, Mol Cell Biol, Ann Rev Nutr, Am J Clin Nutr (5x), Blood (2x), Curr Opin Lipidol, FEBS letters, Exp Cell Res (7x), J Biochem (13x), Cancers Letters, Mech Ageing Dev, J Lipid Res (6x), Am J Physiol, Biochem Biophys Res Commun, J Am Soc Nephrol, Hepatology.

  • Major responsibility for official Norwegian dietary recommendations (Dietary infant recommendations (1992), Fruit and vegetables (“5-a-day”, 1996), and “Dietary recommendations for Norway” (2008)
