About me

Said obtained his PhD in Environmental Geochemistry from the University of Oslo in June 2012 under supervision of Prof. Per Aagaard and Prof. Rolf D. Vogt. His PhD research focused on geochemical processes occurring in a large coastal aquifer influenced by modern recharge and sea water intrusion. He has used relevant statistical methods (hierarchical cluster analysis, factor analysis), and environmental isotope techneques to delineate the origin and sources of ground waters in the deep confined aquifer.

In order to verify the sustainability of groundwater resource identified for the city of Dar es Salaam, a hydrogeochemical approach including methods of hydrogeology, hydrochemistry and environmental isotopes was adopted in a multidisciplinary manner to better understand the hydrodynamic functioning of the coastal aquifer system. Through analyses of the groundwater samples from both shallow and deep aquifers, and surface- and rain-water samples from around the coastal watershed in SE Tanzania, the aquifer system of interest was characterized in terms of its distribution, recharge, flow and discharge.

His future plan is to develop extensive skills by conducting more research in this field and to provide essential contribution to scientist community. The goal is to have the world with sustainable environment. On the other hand, to have maximum exploitation of the natural resources with less or no environmental pollution.

Said has a broad range of research interests in the aqueous chemistry, analytical environmental chemistry and geochemistry of soil, sedimentary, and environmental isotopes in Hydrologeology. Environmental problems associated to human activities, and Water and Wastewater Management are one of his specialty. He is also interested in analytical and field-based studies in environment. (Details can be found in a CV ).

Said grew up in, Pemba Island. The island of Pemba also known as 'Al Jazeera Al Khadra' in Arabic (the green island), lying 200 kilometres off the North East coast of Dar es Salaam Tanzania in the Indian Ocean. The Island form the exotic 'Spice Islands' famous for their history, deep-sea game fishing and of the most finest unpolluted beaches in the World.

A part from research work his favourite hobbies including: swimming, watching football and movies.
