Centre for Imaging is a cooperation between
- Digital Signal Processing and Image Analysis in Department of Informatics.
- Seismic and Electromagnetic Imaging in Petroleum Geology and Geophysics Section in Department of Geosciences.
Within the field of medical image analysis we have a close cooperation with the Norwegian Radium Hospital on analysis of cell nuclei images in digital pathology, aimed at early diagnosis and prognosis for cancer patients. We also work within medical ultrasound imaging, with an emphasis on beamforming and sensor layout.
In the field of remote sensing we are involved with analysis of images from satellite and airborne sensors for environmental monitoring of the earth.
We are involved with several offshore applications of imaging and in particular seismic imaging and underwater acoustics. The work in seismic imaging is focused on improved imaging of petroleum reservoirs. We also work with seabed logging which is a new electromagnetic exploration method. In underwater acoustics we are engaged in improved sonars, positioning and communications.
