Tom Lyche has been on the faculty of the University of Oslo since 1972. He has been associated with the Department of Informatics since its creation in 1977, and was its first Chairman. He belongs to the Computational Mathematics research group. He is a member of CMA Centre of Mathematics for Applications. He is a member of the Norwegian Academy of

Science and Letters and is currently the leader of the Mathematical Sciences group in the Academy.
