HOW TO GET TO THE SEMINAR VENUE:

Rønningen folkehøgskole

 = Rønningen YMCA Hostel

Myrerskogveien 52 B, Oslo

[Some language help: The Norwegian letter Ø (similar to Ö in some other languages) in the name Rønningen is pronounced like the "ea" in the English word "pearl".]

For latitude/longitude of the Seminar Venue, click the Detailed info for our LA7ERS amateur radio station info HERE.

The main seminar web site is here: www.kfuk-kfum-speiderne.no/ersis

Please check that site for last minute updates.

One current update is that you are encouraged to bring a focusing FLASHLIGHT with fresh batteries for the "LASER Game".

See more about this in the final program here (version 8).
The seminar is a Short Course in Organization of Radio- and Internet Scouting, organized in cooperation with the Rønningen folkehøgskole, Oslo.

See also some info about the use of VHF/UHF radio, House Rules, Weather Info, and other last minute information at the end of this very page.

This travel information first describes public transportation (part 1 – 6), then describes the use of taxi (part 7 – 8), and finally the access by car (part 9).

1.      From the Gardermoen Airport to Storo by bus:

Use the NOR-WAY Flybussekspressen marked Bekkestua / Røa from Platform 28 (outside the terminal building). Ask for the stop Storo. Travel time is approximately 50 minutes. Cost 140 NOK. Student cost (with valid student ID) 70 NOK. Senior citizens (> 67 years) 115 NOK. Major credit cards accepted. Further from Storo, see part no. 5 below.

2.      From the Gardermoen Airport to Oslo S by train:

Use the Flytoget train to Oslo S (Oslo Central Railway Station). Tickets are sold from automates (as we call these machines in Norwegian) accepting both money and major credit cards. Travel time is approximately 20 minutes. Cost 160 NOK. Students (with valid student ID) and senior citizens (> 67 years) 80 NOK. Walk from Oslo S to the square in front of (northwest of) Oslo S. This square is called Jernbanetorget (see Map 1).

3.      From the Torp Airport to Oslo Bus Terminal and Jernbanetorget (in northwest front of Oslo S) by bus:

Use the bus "Torp-ekspressen" to its end terminal Oslo Bus Terminal (see Map 1). Travel time is approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. Cost 140 NOK; roundtrip 250 NOK (save some money if you're going back the same way). Student cost roundtrip 220 NOK (a valid student ID must be presented). A valid Ryan Air ticket gives a discount on the bus. Major credit cards accepted. Walk from the Oslo Bus Terminal to Jernbanetorget (see Map 1) approx. 400-500 m. Further to Storo, see part no. 4 below.

4.      From Jernbanetorget (in northwest front of Oslo S) to Storo:

Use tramway (electric streetcar; called "trikk" in Norwegian; northeast direction) No. 12 (marked Kjelsås), or No. 13 (marked Storo – Grefsen), or tunnel line (underground) No. 5 (marked Storo), all going to the Storo stop. Travel time is approximately 20 minutes. Departure intervals 5 - 15 minutes. A single ticket is valid for use and unlimited numbers of transfers for all public transportations (but not taxi) within the city limits of Oslo, within one hour from the time of purchase. Cost 20 NOK when bought from automates at the stops. The automates return your change when paid with a Norwegian money bill, and they also accept Norwegian coins. Tickets can be purchased at "Trafikanten" in the tower at Jernbanetorget square, and in Narvesen kiosks and in local Seven-Eleven stores. Cost 30 NOK when the ticket is purchased from the driver.

5.      From the Storo bridge (over the railway) to the Rønningen stop:

Use the bus No. 56 (marked Solemskogen; northeast direction) to the Rønningen stop (arrow marked no. 2 in Map 2). If your ticket is still valid for transfer (within one hour of stamped time of purchase), show it to the driver when entering the bus. Travel time is 10 minutes. Departure times weekdays (Mon – Fri) 0900, 1000, 1100, 1200, 1300, 1400, 1500, 1530, 1600, 1630, 1700, 1730, 1800, 1900. Avoid, if possible, the bus routes 56 A, 56 B, and 56 C. These will eventually get you to the Rønningen stop, but their travel times are 14, 20, and 21 minutes, respectively (including some extra sight-seeing for you). Walking distance to the Seminar Venue is approximately 400 m, downhill, in a Z-shaped road pattern along the Myrerskogveien road.

Alternatively taxi from Storo directly to the Seminar Venue. Distance about 4.5 km. Cost approximately 100 NOK. The Taxi stop is in the Grefsenveien road, about 100 m southwest of the Flybussekspressen bus stop, about 50 m further southwest of the bus No. 56 bus stop on top of the Storo bridge over the railway (walk to the opposite, western, side of the small roundabout).

6.      Alternatively from Jernbanetorget or the Storo bridge (over the railway) to the Grefsen stadion stop:

Use the tram (electric streetcar; called "trikk" in Norwegian; northeast direction) No. 12 (marked Kjelsås) to the Grefsen stadion stop (arrow marked no. 1 in Map 1 and Map 2). The travel time is 25 minutes from Jernbanetorget; 7 minutes from Storo. Tram intervals 10 minutes. For tickets, see under part 4, above. Walking distance to the Seminar Venue is approximately 1.3 km; flat half way, and uphill half way; along the Myrerskogveien road. Follow the sign to "Rønningen folkehøgskole" from the tram stop at Grefsen stadion.

7.      Alternatively taxi from the Grefsenplatået stop to the Seminar Venue:

If you don't want to walk the 1.3 km using the part 6 alternative, take the tram to the Grefsenplatået stop (arrow marked Taxi in the Map 1 and Map 2; stop before the Grefsen stadion stop). [The letter Å is pronounced like the "au" in the English name "Paul"]. There is a taxi stop here. If there is no taxi at the stop (or at whatever place you're at in Oslo) , you can call the 5-digit phone number 02323 to order a taxi. Cost from the Grefsenplatået stop to the Seminar Venue would be approximately 80-100 NOK. There is no need to tip the driver, but if the driver is helpful, the driver will be happy with 10% tip. If paying with credit card, present your card when the trip starts.

8.      Alternatively taxi to the Seminar Venue:

Taxi from the Gardermoen Airport directly to the Seminar Venue: Cost approximately 400 – 600 NOK, depending on the taxi company (ask the taxi drivers from the different companies).

Taxi from the Torp Airport directly to the Seminar Venue: Cost approximately 1700 NOK (according to the Oslo Taxi company).

Taxi from Jernbanetorget (in northwest front of Oslo S) directly to the Seminar Venue: Cost approximately 180 – 200 NOK (probably more if the traffic is heavy). The distance is approximately 10 km. For more about taxis, see the part 7, above.

 9.      Use your own car to the Seminar Venue:

Follow the Highway No. 150 called Ring 3 to Storo (see Map no. 1). Drive off from the highway up to the level of the bridge over the highway at the Storo intersection. At the traffic light there, follow the Grefsenveien road to the northeast until you have reached the arrow no. 1 on Map no. 1 and Map no. 2. Make a right turn here at the sign to Rønningen folkehøgskole, and follow the Myrerskogveien road to No. 52 B at the new sign to Rønningen folkehøgskole.

We hope that you all will find your way to the 7th ERSIS Seminar Venue, with the help of this travel guide. If you get really lost, call Dag Anders or Tom on their mobile phones (numbers listed at the end of the program file).

Looking forward to seeing you at the 7th ERSIS in Oslo!

When leaving Oslo (we cite from the sterling.dk web site):
Note! Passengers flying from the Oslo Gardermoen Airport --
Due to a minor security flaw in Oslo airport their security level is upgraded for the moment.
We advice passengers departing from Oslo airport to arrive two hours earlier than their flight leaves.
