Scientific Computing:
The research in the Scientific Computing department
focuses on numerical methods and software for solving partial differential
equations. Our aim is to develop efficient, reliable, and maintainable
software addressing mathematical models based on partial differential
equations.
The group is a part of the Department of Scientific
Computing at Simula Research Laboratory (Terminalbygget, Fornebu).
Our official Web pages with information about people and
projects are on the Simula site.
The group has four professors with permanent positions at the
Department of Informatics: Xing Cai, Morten Dæhlen, Hans Petter
Langtangen, and Aslak Tveito. These are currently on 80% leave from
the University to be researchers at Simula. In their remaining 20% positions
at the Department of Informatics they maintain their ordinary teaching and
supervision.
Many of the group's employees at Simula have part-time (20%) positions
for teaching and supervision at the Department of Informatics:
Are Magnus Bruaset, Øyvind Hjelle, Knut-Andreas Lie, Glenn Terje
Lines,
Kent-Andre Mardal, Bjørn Fredrik Nielsen, Trygve K. Nilssen,
Ola Skavhaug, and Joakim Sundnes.
