Norwegian participation in Solar B Background(1.1)


The Solar B Satellite

 ISAS project that is a successor to the highly successful Japan/US/UK YOHKOH (SOLAR-A) collaboration.

 Objective is to study the origins of the outer solar atmosphere, the corona, and the coupling between the fine magnetic structure at the photosphere and the dynamic processes occurring in the corona

 Launch in August 2005, aboard M-V rocket from Kageshima Space Center to a polar, Sun synchronous orbit

 Suite of three instruments built by teams in the US, UK and Japan

 Norwegian participation through an instrument team (MSSL) & through the reading down of data at Svalsat
